The 2017 Jeep Cherokee vs 2017 Jeep Patriot. What’s Your Choice?
Serving Milledgeville , Meriwether , and Midway-Hardwick , GA
When affordability is important to you, Jeep is a good place to start. The Jeep Patriot is considered the best value among utes today because it has the lowest MSRP. The 2017 Jeep Cherokee allows shoppers to choose a very affordable trim or go for a premium ride at a more affordable price. If these two rides interest you, this comparison may help you decide which one is the best fit for your lifestyle.

Performance and Off-Roading
Patriots give you a choice of four-cylinder engines. A 158-horsepower unit comes with front wheel drive and either a manual or continuously variable transmission. If you step up to the World Engine, the outlay is 172 horsepower. Top gas mileage is 30 mpg highway. You can?t find a less expensive off-roader than the Patriot. Regular four-wheel drive can be upgraded to a trail-ready version with hill descent control.
For an even more rousing spirit, Cherokee base engines generate 184 horsepower and earn up to 30 mpg highway. For something faster, a six-cylinder powertrain kicks out 271 horsepower. When properly equipped, it may tow up to 2,000 pounds. A new nine-speed automatic transmission controls the action. The standard four-wheel Active Drive has Jeep?s Selec-Terrain for better traction. On the new Cherokee Trailhawk, Jeep Active Drive Low has Selec-Speed Control to allow for better crawling over difficult terrain.
Trims and Features
Keeping costs low, the Patriot comes in two trims, giving consumers a choice between a basic and higher edition. Additional choices include the Sport SE sub trim with its gloss-gray exterior appointments, High Altitude with its chrome elements, and 75th Anniversary with a special bronzed tone. The dash has a USB port, aux-in jack, satellite radio capability, a CD player and Bluetooth connectivity. The cargo hold expands with split-folding rear seats. Latitude editions add heated front seats and reclining rear seats. A favorite addition is a Boston Acoustics system with two drop-down speakers.
Standing taller, Cherokees are also longer and wider. Naturally this means more space for each passenger and more space in the cargo hold. Five editions are offered along with several sub trims. Cherokee Sport models start you out with high quality materials, reclining rear seats and dedicated rear HVAC vents. In addition to the standard Patriot dash tech, Cherokees have a five-inch touchscreen with an SD card reader. A folding front passenger seat expands cargo space. Limited editions have leather upholstery, and the new premium Overland editions have a leather-clad instrument panel and Nappa leather. Cherokees also offer power-adjusting front seats with heat and ventilation. A larger touchscreen adds more apps and navigation.

Safety
The Jeep Patriot has advanced electronic systems to ensure stability and to create traction in difficult circumstances. It has a full contingent of airbags and other protective measures. The Cherokee goes further with more airbags, a rearview camera, and a suite of available crash avoidance systems. Cherokees offer warning systems with an autobrake and a lane assist. You can also get an automated system for parallel or perpendicular parking.
Offering a broad range of features and prices, you could say the Patriot and Cherokee complement each other. You certainly can?t go wrong whichever one you pick. A test drive at our dealership in Milledgeville is sure to tell you more.
